Cutting Cords

Here I would like to start a topic on cord cutting, letting go of the past,
people we no longer need in our energy field, anything we feel we need to let go of. Lets talk about why it is important to let go and why it is often hard to do so.
I will also post a simple exercise, I use in my awareness class, for you to use to let go in a safe way.

I let go of a certain major thing in my life a few years ago when i went back to spirituality, as i gave up all forms of spirituality in my youth due to this issue and lost all my faith and beliefs, i had to let the negative energy that it had on me not drag me down anymore, sometimes i do find myself thinking back now and again and then i feel like im sinking a little then i ask my angels and guides to help me, then im myself once more. I dont think in my case cutting the cords from this was easy it was not for me and i doubt for another it would be either.

Cord cutting is one of the hardest and most emotional exercises done in my class. Often we think oh yes I can do this, but once we start this exercise it all comes to you, to emotional attachment, feelings, hurt, anger, fear. It is not easy to let go of someone or something whilst doing the cord cutting exercise and one should be prepared to go through a very emtional cleasing experience.

I am if I block it from my mind, but some things like reading a newspaper or hearing the news on a certain thing brings it back thats when i feel like im sinking but i do ask for help.

Dear Maz, If things like you mention still bring a pang then not all cords are cut. I so understand the pain that these emoptions can bring. I have successfully used a golden urn for placing all my excess baggage in and then when I close the lid tight it cuts all cords to those emotional memories. You can use anything you like of course but I find it works for me.

i suppose i would try anything to out all of that negative energy of the past, i think over a period of time most of the negative energy has disminished, but there still remains some, i do feel that i have not done to bad at cutting the cords on that issue, but i know not all are cut as i said previous if im watching the news or reading a paper there may be something there that triggers it off, i shall try when i feel like im sinking to try and put the energy in a pot, i have for a few years now tried to advoid reading a news paper and advoid the news. But this cutting cords is what may help me. Great topic.

thoughts are such powerful things as is intent, you need to visualise the whole sequence from the begginging to end so that all the stagnating energy is neutralised and you emerge like a new butterfly

Loely way of explaining it Clair, Maz corc cutting is not easy. I will post an exercise in a mo which I use in my class. This exercise is simple but ery effective and should be repeated as often as possible so we are not held back by negative energies from the past.

I do think that we sometimes want to keep hold of some of the emotions from the past... Maybe they can help us feel the warnings if a similar situation is going to arise in the future?

Letting go is just a change of mind set - the past doesnt change, just the way we feel about it does and WOW is that powerful.

I agree Susie , cord cutting helps us deal with te emotional side of the past event, the memory is still in the back of our mind and, like yu said, can help us in future events. Cord cutting a way of dealing with our emotions in a situation. Cord cutting is and can be a very emotional excersise and one should note if vulnerable one should seek advice from a qualified therapist.

Another great exercise I found was in the book by Brandon Bays called the Journey. Where you meet those that you wish to cut cords/discuss issues with at a campfire (in your mind)
